“Angels descending, bring from above, echoes of mercy, whispers of love.” ~ Fanny J. Crosby

“If trouble hearing angels’ song with thine ears, try listening with thy heart.” ~ Terri Guillemets

oh my angel! with thy voice ethereal sweet,
i beseech you, dare entreat,
this lowly man, firmly held to ground,
permit my ears to hear thy sound,

watching from a distance amongst the clouds,
far from reach from these mortal crowds,
like a stargazer, staring into the skies,
hoping beyond hope for a glimpse of thine eyes,

and while sight and sound denies thee here,
thy presence is palpable, intimately near,
burning embers catching fire is thy love,
consummated in pureness and truth from above,

yet still chained to earth, my soul bellows loud,
“descend from thy cloud, thy celestial shroud!”
if only for a moment, show thyself to me,
and gift with angel’s tongue words of love eternally.
