“Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.” ~ Robert H. Schuller, clergyman

“What gives me the most hope every day is God’s grace; knowing that His grace is going to give me the strength for whatever I face, knowing that nothing is a surprise to God.” ~ Rick Warren

it is the sliver of hope, sunset’s retreating light,
that provides impetus to continue the fight,
a security blanket that all of us need,
a constant companion, a trusty steed,

that is hope’s purpose during times dire,
to be a life preserver so that we do not tire,
a sustaining water that quells hell’s flame,
trusting forgiveness rather than blame,

hope is an encouragement repeatedly heard,
its delivery perfect, each and every word,
its presence defeats a lingering despair,
as hope holds the knowledge that others care,

though hope persists from a faith above,
a faith that comes solely from a Father’s love,
such love from which existence began,
and which relationship was restored by the Son of man…

…according to our Lord’s sovereign, eternal plan.
